Healthy Eating Habits Leads To A Better Life

Healthy eating is not about starving yourself and but eating a balanced diet in moderation consistenly over a period of time.

When your BMI or Body Mass Index is in the normal range, you will :

  • Avoid diseases like heart attack, cancer, diabetes
  • Feel energetic & happy, cut down fatigue & frustration, stabilize mood
  • Be productive and make more money
  • Have a great life with family and friends

You can achieve all of this if you learn the basics of nutrition and use them appropriately to create and maintain a healthy, tasty diet suitable for you.

Moderation is essential

To sustain a healthy body; you require a balanced diet of protein, fiber, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins in moderation. Eat what is good for your body not what is good for your tongue whenever your craving kicks-in.

How, when and what you eat matters

In order to learn healthy eating habits, you must first realize that food is a source of nourishment rather than just gulping down something tasty at various intervals during the day. Some healthy eating habits include eating when you are really hungry, eating with other people, eating small meals 3 to 4 times a day and not eating at night before going to bed,(avoiding after dinner snacks).

Eat more fruits & vegetables

A healthy diet also depends on how much fruits and vegetables you eat. Fruits and vegetables are low in calories and rich in nutrients and naturally packed with antioxidants, fiber, minerals, and vitamins. The brighter the fruits and vegetables the better, and choose different fruits and vegetables for your daily meals to add some color and variety. You should try to eat five portions of fruits and vegetables each day, i.e. with each meal and if possible, even during snack time.

Healthy carbohydrates and fiber are good

Choose foods that are a good source of healthy carbohydrates and fiber, particularly whole grains, because you will gain long lasting energy. Additionally, whole grains tend to be satisfying and tasty, and are also rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals that defend the body against certain cancers, coronary heart disease, and diabetes. The more whole grains you eat, the healthier your heart will be.

Healthy eating is not as complicated as it appears to be. Everyone can do this and its all in your mind. Just think you can and do it, to be on your way to a better life.
